High Concept
A first-person survival horror set in a 1970s Russian lab.
Description
The Descent is a first-person survival horror set in an undisclosed location in the Soviet Union. The player must navigate the labyrinthine research facility to find their wife. In order to succeed, they must utilise stealth and make use of the environment to overcome enemies and other challenges.
I worked as a junior in a design role for this project, it was split into two phases, a 2-day prototyping block and a 6-week production block. I was asked to work with the senior designer during the prototype block to flesh out the narrative for the game, prototype game mechanics and create the initial designs for the levels. During the production block, I meshed the 2nd level and implemented all the mechanical blueprints as well.
